Graham E. S. Jones

Graham is an experienced trial lawyer representing individuals in a wide range of legal disputes, with a particular emphasis in the areas of employment law, personal injury, motor vehicle and civil litigation.

Graham has been successful at every Court level, including the Ontario Court of Appeal, Federal Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. In addition, he has been successful at numerous arbitrations before various tribunals and has appeared before the Commission of Inquiry into the deployment of Canadian Forces to Somalia.

Several of Graham’s cases have recently been closely followed by the media and reported both locally and nationally. Some recent examples of Graham’s cases include the following:

• Won a Judge’s verdict of $624,000.00, plus lawyers’ fees for a professional musician injured at work
• Won a Judge’s verdict of six figures, plus lawyers’ fees for a three-year employee of an Ottawa high-tech company
• Obtained a settlement of over $225,000.00 for an Ottawa taxicab driver injured in a motor vehicle accident
• Won an arbitrator’s award of six figures and job reinstatement for an Ottawa employee working for a national telecommunications company
• Obtained a settlement of $500,000.00 for a 54-year old man injured in a motor vehicle accident
• Successfully defended a former employee of an Ottawa information company who had been sued for alleged breaches of Non-Solicit and Non-Competition Agreements
• Obtained a settlement of over $300,000.00 for an assistant grocery store manager injured in a motor vehicle accident

Graham received his Law Degree from Queen’s University in 1992. Prior to that, he received an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Trent University. Upon his call to the bar, he practiced as a sole practitioner before joining the law firm of Soloway Wright in 1994. He joined Shields & Hunt upon its formation in April 1996 and became a partner in January 1999.

In his free time, Graham enjoys a variety of activities including tennis, waterskiing, mountain biking, scuba diving and golf.
